Merryhill Elementary in San Jose Gives Back During the Holidays

Students at Merryhill Elementary School in San Jose recently took part in two initiatives to give back this holiday season. In November, students raised more than $600 to purchase gifts for families in need through Sunday Friends' annual Holiday Shopping Spree program. A team of Merryhill Elementary School staff members visited a local Target store to purchase gifts for the families using the funds the school raised.

In December, students participated in Bill Wilson Center’s Adopt-A-Family program and held a gift drive for the families they sponsored. Merryhill Elementary School collected nine large boxes full of gifts, and a group of fifth grade students delivered the donations to Bill Wilson Center on Dec. 12. Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of spreading kindness and helping others.
