Merryhill Preschool in Milpitas Donates Two Barrels of Food Items

Students donated nonperishable food items and monetary contributions to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

Students at Merryhill Preschool in Milpitas recently donated two barrels of nonperishable food items, as well as monetary contributions to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger. Throughout the summer, students hosted a school-wide food drive to collect the donations. At the close of the drive, students helped sort the items and load them into vehicles for delivery to the organization. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of helping local families in need.

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley works to lead the community to ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one. It is one of the largest food banks in the nation and provides food to more than a quarter of a million people in Silicon Valley every month. More than half the people the organization serves are children and seniors.
