Negotiators Work To Coax Woman Off Ledge Along I-880

The female is straddling a wall 60 to 70 feet above the ground.

The California Highway Patrol, Milpitas police and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department is negotiating with a woman who refuses to leave a ledge over an up to 70-foot drop by Interstate Highway 880 in San Jose, a CHP officer said.

The CHP received a report at 10:20 a.m. about the woman, described as in her late 30s to early 40s, perched on the ledge above Coyote Creek off of southbound Highway 880 near Brokaw Road, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

CHP officers, a negotiator with the Milpitas Police Department and a county public health worker are at the scene attempting to convince the woman to come off of the ledge, Ross said. The woman, who is straddling the wall from 60 to 70 feet above the creek, appears to be interacting with the people negotiating with her, he said.
