New Collection Facility Opens for Household Hazardous Waste

We know "the locations haven't always been convenient to ... cities such as Milpitas and Campbell"

Santa Clara County opened a new Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility in north San Jose Friday, the third in the county.

It’s located at the new San José Environmental Innovation Center (SJEIC), which opened in May. SJEIC is a sustainably designed building and site that is also home to Prospect Silicon Valley and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore may eventually sell recycled paint from the HHW collection facility.

“With this third permanent facility, we anticipate greater participation in drop-offs,” said County Recycling & Waste Division Manager Rob D’Arcy. “We know demand for the take-back program is high, but the locations haven’t always been convenient to a large part of San José residents or to neighboring cities such as Milpitas and Campbell.”
