Police Standoff On Main Street In Milpitas Ends Peacefully
The SWAT Team had surrounded the KFC on South Main Street.

MILPITAS, CA — A standoff with a man holed up in a bathroom at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Milpitas came to an end around 1:40 a.m. today when the Milpitas police SWAT team took him into custody without incident, police said.
Sgt. Huy Tran said the SWAT team entered the eatery and used tear gas to disable the man, who was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. Tran said the man was resisting arrest.
Tran said the man would eventually be booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

The standoff began around 6:53 p.m. Monday when the man began banging on walls and screaming in the bathroom of the KFC.
Employees called police, and when officers arrived, they heard what appeared to be a gunshot from inside the bathroom.

The restaurant was evacuated as police established a perimeter to negotiate with the suspect, Tran said.
