Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Is Saturday In Milpitas
Clean out your medicine cabinets and drawers, and safely dispose of your expired or leftover medications at the police department.

MILPITAS, CA – The Milpitas Police Department's Drug Take-Back Event is Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Milpitas Police Department at 1275 N. Milpitas Blvd.
On October 28, 2017, Milpitas residents turned in more than 324 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, the department said.
Locals can bring in unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for safe disposal for free -- with no questions asked, police said. No sharps or syringes are accepted.

Nationwide, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is promoting Saturday as Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
"According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet," the DEA s aid. "The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths."
