Quinn Letan Named Principal of the Year at Merryhill School

Quinn Letan was named Principal of the Year at Merryhill Elementary & Middle School in Milpitas on Friday. The award came the private school’s parent organization, Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. (NLCI), at their annual conference held this year in Las Vegas.

“What impresses me most about Mrs. Letan is her deep understanding of education – its development, progress and global impact,” said Duyen Pham, a parent of two students at Merryhill School, which serves students in the kindergarten through eighth grade level. “She’s a passionate educator who inspires both students and their parents.”

The award is presented each year to an principal that stands out for both motivating and inspiring students, said press spokesperson Danielle Davis.

"As principal of our school, Quinn is a fair leader who always tries her best to see all sides before making a decision,” said Merryhill teacher Michele Martinez. “She says that her door is always open to students, staff as well as parents, and she holds true to that.”

A San Jose resident, Letan holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Houston in Clear Lake and is pursuing her master of arts in education administration at National University. She has worked at Merryhill School for 11 years and as an educator for more than 15 years.

“It’s such a great honor to receive this award. The success of our school comes from our staff working together and believing that every child deserves a quality education,” said Letan in a press release. “With that belief, we work hard to maintain valuable educational programming at Merryhill School.”

Merryhill is part of a national network of 180 nonsecretarian private schools through NLCI, including preschools, elementary schools and middle schools in 15 states across the nation. They stand out, according to Davis, due to small class sizes and a focus catering to individual learning styles.
