Santa Clara County DA Rosen Being Sworn In Today

This will be his second term in office. Ceremonies -- with local dignitaries -- begin at noon in San Jose.

Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen is being sworn in today for his second four-year term as the county’s top prosecutor.

Rosen will be sworn in at a noon event in San Jose being emceed by Supervisor Cindy Chavez, with Board of Supervisors president Dave Cortese making opening remarks and new Mayor Sam Liccardo introducing the district attorney.

Rosen heads the state’s largest district attorney’s office north of Los Angeles, serving a population of 1.8 million people and overseeing 537 employees who prosecute about 40,000 cases per year.

Rosen touts many reforms made since he took office in 2011, including creating what he said is one of the nation’s first conviction integrity units, re-establishing a cold case unit and expanding the community prosecutor unit, according to the district attorney’s office.

Today’s event, taking place in the Board of Supervisors’ chambers at 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose, will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance by Rosen’s daughters. The oath of office will be administered by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Sharon Chatman.
