Standoff Suspect Arrested After Shot By San Jose Police

The suspect was shot in the exchange of gunfire with San Jose police. He was transferred to a hospital and arrested.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Mario Manuel Caballero, 31, of San Jose was arrested after he allegedly fired at city police and barricaded himself inside an East San Jose home Friday.

The standoff lasted about 11 hours, starting at 10 a.m. when police were called that a man was armed with a gun. Once San Jose officers arrived, Cabellero shot at them, prompting one
officer to shoot back. He barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out, police said.

As a result of the gunfire, Cabellero was shot. He was transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries and taken into custody that night.
