Still Time to Get the Whooping Cough Vaccination

Gov. Brown gives an extra 30 days for incoming students in grades 7-12 who still need to provide proof for the Tdap booster.

About two-thirds of the students in the Milpitas Unified School District have gotten the Tdap booster in response to a new statewide requirement for incoming students in seventh through 12th grades. But the rest have not.

About 1,655 students will receive letters from the Milpitas Unified School District next week, according to Michelle Dimas, assistant superintendent of educational services.

That's because they still need to provide proof that they've been vaccinated, or else they can't enter school. Originally that date was Aug. 29, the first day of instruction for public schools in Milpitas.
