Watch: Police Catch Toddler, Dog Thrown From Burning Bay Area Building
A video shows an officer with his arms outstretched, urging a woman to throw her toddler to him from the second story in a dramatic rescue.
MILPITAS, CA — Police helped rescue several people from a burning building in Milpitas, including a 3-year-old and a small dog that were thrown from an apartment balcony, video released this week shows.
At around 3:13 p.m. on Saturday, the Milpitas Police Department received a call that residents were trapped inside a burning apartment near the 550 block of S. Park Victoria Drive.
Flames spread through the building, forcing residents to escape onto a second-story patio. Officers arrived to find the apartment fully engulfed in flames and a panicked family. They urged a woman to throw down her toddler to them. The tense bodycam video shows an officer with arms outstretched, shouting, "Where's the Baby? Throw her. I got her, I got her."

The video then shows a 3-year-old landing in his arms, quickly followed by a small dog thrown from the balcony above.
Milpitas Fire arrived and helped the rest of the residents evacuate, police said.
