2 Men Arrested For Burglary, Grand Theft In Mission Viejo

Orange County sheriff deputies arrested two men in connection with stealing over $3,800 of merchandise from a Mission Viejo business.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Two men were arrested in Mission Viejo Thursday after reportedly stealing from a local business at the Shops at Mission Viejo, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The two men, who were not identified by authorities, were arrested during a traffic stop late Thursday afternoon. They were arrested for burglary, grand theft, conspiracy and vehicle registration fraud, as well as possession of stolen property, controlled substance and burglary tools, the OCSD reported.

Deputies were called to the scene at the local shopping mall earlier that afternoon in response to reports of burglary. While investigating, witnesses provided an excellent description of the suspect's car, authorities said.

Later that afternoon, deputies spotted the suspect's car during a traffic stop and detained the two men. Inside of the car, they found $3,800 worth of stolen merchandise, burglary tools, false or stolen vehicle registration and narcotics.

Much of the stolen property has already been returned to its original owners, authorities said. Investigators will work to return the remaining items.
