9-Car Crash Injures 5 In Mission Viejo, Sheriff Investigates

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A major traffic crash involving nine cars in Mission Viejo sent two people to the hospital on Saturday, with one person in critical condition, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The crash was reported around noon on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Alicia Parkway and Jeronimo Road, authorities said. The crash injured a total of five people, Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson Greg Bradshaw told the Orange County Register.

The crash prompted deputies to close several lanes on the busy intersection while the Sheriff's Major Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the scene.

“It’s a pretty big scene they’re trying to unwind, which is why we’ve got a lot of units still out there assisting right now,” OCSD Sgt. Todd Hylton told the OC Register.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
