MISSION VIEJO, CA — The City of Mission Viejo is rolling out a temporary pumptrack this May in honor of Bike Safety Month.
The track will be available for use between May 12 through May 24, city officials said.
According to city spokesperson Kelly Tokarski, the track will be situated along the Oso Creek Trail in a new location east of the Village Green next to the outdoor fitness equipment at 24932 Veterans Way.
The track will be available and free to use for the public from 7 a.m. to dusk.
According to the city, a pumptrack is a closed circuit track consisting of rollers, banked turns, and other features that allow bicyclists and other riders to use their momentum to propel them forward.
The track is specifically for non-motorized bicycles and scooters, and riders should wear properly fitted helmets and follow the posted rules, Tokarski said.
