Angling for a New Seafood Joint?
Want your food to have it all, both fast and healthy? Read this customer experience of Corner Fish Grill, which serves up seafood grilled or fried, and fast.
The gorgeous weather on Sunday inspired me to give the Corner Fish Grill a try. Fresh grilled fish served up like fast food was just what my daughter and I needed considering the long list of errands we had--health food on a fast food schedule.
The location on La Paz and Muirlands proved very convenient, easy to get into and out of and freeway-close.
Upon entering we noticed that the place was deserted, save for the lone diner on the outdoor patio. Hmmm, maybe a bad sign, but it was after 2 p.m. on a Sunday so that could have explained it.

Looking around at first I was a little confused. Where's the menu? So I thought this might be a sit down establishment. The cashier greeted us warmly, “Can I help you?”
There was a menu sitting on the counter, the cashier stood there watching me as I tried to familiarize myself with the menu, which includes choices for the little ones as well like standard mac & cheese, chicken tenders and corn dogs. To mix things up they have fish "stix" and popcorn shrimp.

It felt a little uncomfortable be watched while I perused the menu so I asked, “What are your specialties?”
“We don’t have any.”
Hmmm. So I returned my attention to the menu. My daughter selected the fish taco plate, two fish tacos with a side of black beans and cilantro rice. I chose two ahi tacos with a side of cole slaw. We decided to share an appetizer of grilled calamari.
The first thing I noticed as we took our seats was that the place was immaculately clean. That’s always a plus.
Our calamari appetizer arrived at our table in seven minutes. It was seasoned very well and it was not rubbery as I have come to expect whenever ordering calamari. Things were off to a good start.
A few more customers trickled in as we enjoyed our appetizer.
Five minutes after our calamari was served the rest of our food was brought over. The cashier/waitress was very attentive.
Unfortunately my coleslaw was tasteless and the salt I added was not enough to make it worth eating. The black beans and cilantro rice shared the same characteristic--bland.
The ahi in my tacos was cooked perfectly and it tasted fresh but poorly seasoned. The only actual flavor in the taco was the house sauce, red onion, cilantro and cheese. The same was true for my daughter's fish tacos.
The customers sitting closer to us ordered the fish and chips and it looked very appetizing. Maybe I should have ordered that since it seems they have the fried foods down. But then I guess that defeats the point of seeking out health food on a fast food time budget.
