Arts Alive Festival & Street Painting Celebrates the 90s.
Join us from Noon to 5 pm on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2016 on the Village Green.
The Simpsons, dinosaurs, tyrannosaurs will transport thousands of visitors through a 90s themed, 10th Annual Arts Alive Festival. The festival and street painting continues to be one of the most popular events in Mission Viejo.
Art and music will prevail from Noon to 5 pm on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2016 on the Village Green in front of the Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, 92691.
The two-day, family-friendly, free event attracts street artists who chalk paintings on the pavement. The pavement turns into a paradise of art. Chalk paintings is an arduous art form that requires sitting, kneeling, crouching, laying and bending with patience and hours of stamina while creating masterpieces.

This year’s featured artist is Aliso Viejo artist, Maaria Kader. Last year out of 130 creative artists, Kader won Best Use of Color with the cartoon characters of Marvel “Avengers.”
The outdoor studios will host hands-on activities and crafts. Some of the groups that will participate are Cultural Arts Committee, Heritage Christian School, Mission Viejo Friends of the Arts,, Mission Viejo Garden Club, Mission Viejo Senior Activities Committee, Mission Viejo Heritage Committee, Mission Viejo Nadadores Swim School and Saddleback Art League, just to name a few.

Other handcrafted art includes candles, ceramics, jewelry, leather, mosaics, pens, photography, wood toys and a gallery of items cleverly, recycled.
Live performances on the Jurassic Stage will include Jazz, Funk, R&B, Latin and Fusion music plus dances of the 90s. Several food trucks will cater to your food needs along with a beer and wine garden.
The Indoor Studios in the community center will feature a collage demonstration, copper pendants, ceramics, comic drawing, photography display, origami and more. Relax on the Orchard Terrace with the Bahar Restaurant and BK Cellars Urban Winery while enjoying Kevin Homma and Jazz Ensemble.
If you don’t get a chance see the chalk paintings at the Norman P. Murray Community Center you can still stroll over and see them on Monday.
