Don’t miss this amazing experience,” Breakfast with Gary and Kelly,” radio program at Saddleback College, KSBR, 88.5FM. They will be kicking off their fifth season “Live” with Grammy award winning, Melissa Manchester on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at McKinney Theater, 28000 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, 92692 on the campus.
The popular morning show’s, guest Melissa Manchester is a producer, singer and songwriter. Manchester, a native from the Bronx, New York was discovered by Barry Manilow who introduced her to Bette Midler. She was a founding member and back-up singer with Midler’s Harlettes in 1971 and studied songwriting with Paul Simon at New York University.
“You Gotta Love the Life,” is the singer-songwriter’s 20th and first album since 2004. At the urging of her music students at the University of Southern California, Manchester independently raised funds through Indigogo to launch this album. It is a songbook of ballads, jazz and samba featuring Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Dave Koz, Keb “Mo” and the late Joe Sample.

Celebrating 40 years in the music industry, her songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Stevie Nicks, Kenny Loggins, Roberta Flack as well as appearing in movies made for Disney, Tyler Perry, films and television.
In 2008 she released a single, “The Power of Ribbons” to digital retailers with proceeds going to breast cancer research. You can check out Manchester’s, stunning rendition of Marvin Hamlish’s “Through the Eyes of Love” on www.youtube.com.

“My hunger is the same hunger I had when I was 17,” she says when discussing the release of her self-made,” You Gotta Love the Life.” “This album is what I know for sure at last.”
Doors will open at 9:30 am and the audience will be admitted for the 10 am to Noon portion. Admission is free, however reservations are required. All tickets are released at 9:30 am and made available to the stand-by list.
While the name of the show is “Breakfast with Gary and Kelly,” it is just the name-they don’t serve breakfast. Light refreshments and coffee may be served. The final hour of the broadcast will be videotaped on SCTV Channel 39 Cox Cable.
