Traffic Woes in Mission Viejo: Northbound 5 Freeway, South of Alicia Parkway
A Sig Alert is now cancelled from a multi-vehicle accident on the Northbound 5 Freeway, south of Alicia Parkway in Mission Viejo.

MISSION VIEJO . CA — A secondary crash arose following a morning SIG alert through Mission Viejo, according to CHP. Two vehicles became "stuck together" when a sedan rear ended a pick up truck with camper shell, according to CHP Public Information Officer Reynoso.
"The sedan rear ended the truck causing the tow-hitch ball to become stuck in the grill," he said. "The cars were in the #2 lane, and there were no injuries only property damage."
The cars are now on the right shoulder and all SIG alerts have been cancelled as of just before noon.

A single vehicle crash into the median on the northbound side occurred at approximately 10 a.m. when a swerving truck rammed into a traffic barrier in the center of Northbound 5 at Alicia Parkway, according to CHP traffic reports.
The two-axle truck required a specialized tow truck to remove it from lanes, according to Reynoso.
"The utility truck was involved in the original collision, and debris from that collision went to southbound lanes," Reynoso said. "A white Toyota Corolla traveling southbound collided with debris from that original crash."
The Southbound lanes are clear as of 11:15 a.m. however the northbound SIG alert continued for the Ford Utility truck in the HOV lane that requires a specialized tow truck to remove the vehicle from the center divider.
There are reports stating that truck was "swerving from lane to lane" and struck the traffic barrier. Statements reported from the scene by CHP say that it "looks like driver fell asleep" at the wheel prior to the traffic collision.
"Injuries from the first accident are unknown, and officers are investigating," Reynoso said.
More information will be made available when it is released and this will be updated.
