CA 45th Congressional District Congresswoman Mimi Walters' Chief of Staf Resigns Following Indictment

Charges against Mimi Walters' Chief of Staff David Bowser stem from when he worked for then Rep. Paul Broun

Some may be surprised at the speed with which Mimi Walters crashed and burned in Washington. I wasn't. She was well-established as a member of the GOP establishment long before she arrived as evidenced by her meteoric ascendancy to the elbow of John Boehner. All you had to do was sit quietly in the corner of a Republican Central Committee meeting in Orange County and you would see who was their favorite daughter. And when Paul Ryan took the Speaker's gavel from Boehner's hand, Mimi did not retreat into the shadows, did she?

Thus, it is no surprise that her first term in Washington draws to an end punctuated by scandal as her Chief of Staff is indicted. To be fair, the indictment alleges bad conduct while Mimi's Chief of Staff, David Bowser, was serving in the same capacity for another member of the GOP establishment in Washington, former member of Congress, Representative Paul Broun (R-Ga). However, it is also fair to speculate how key operatives may be recruited for precisely those attributes which made them successful. Thus, even if Representative Walters was totally ignorant of Bowser's malfeasance, she is proven susceptible to falling victim to the same in her own office when she is led blindly by her allegiance to the mechanizations of the party elite.

We the People must now wake up. We must become more diligent in our selection of our elected representatives. It's time to put aside blind allegiance to the party leadership and begin casting our ballots with greater care. Those whom the party elite favor are those whom they can depend upon to be good little followers. We the People don't need “good little followers”. We need leaders who owe their allegiance to us.
