The California Republican Assembly (CRA) Endorses Mission Viejo Councilman Greg Raths for U.S. Congress

Marine Corps Veteran and Mission Viejo City Councilman, Colonel Greg Raths received the California Republican Assembly’s (CRA) endorsement for U.S. Congress for CA-45th today in the first round, with a 17-3 vote against a sitting Republican Establishment Congresswoman, Mimi Walters.

Greg is resolute in his commitment to the sound principles that have guided him throughout his life and through his years of military service to his country. Greg is a passionate leader and defender of our Constitution.

Greg graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He later earned a Masters Degree from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and recently received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science at CSUF.

Greg is a long time homeowner and resident of Mission Viejo. He came to Orange County in 1978 as a young First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and was based at the Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro. He served 30 years on active duty as a fighter/attack pilot retiring in 2004 at the rank of Colonel. During his years in service he commanded a Marine Corps Fighter/Attack Squadron, Marine Air Group, and served as Chief of Staff of a Marine Air Wing. He is a decorated combat pilot of Operations Desert Storm, Southern Watch and Restore Hope. He has 75 combat missions in the F/A-18 Hornet. He also served as Assistant Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer of the White House Military Office from 1996-1999.

Greg flew commercially for Jet Blue Airways followed by serving as President of an automobile parts distribution firm in Anaheim. Greg is a publisher and author. His first book 9 Lives of a Fighter Pilot is in its 3rd printing with all profits donated to The Semper Fi Fund and Patriots and Paws. Greg volunteers within his community of Mission Viejo as a member of the Elks Lodge, Rotary Club, American Legion, VFW, St. Kilian Knights of Columbus, and UniteOC Toastmasters International. Greg serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Charity Patriots and Paws, a charity that supplies companion dogs, furniture and home goods to veterans at no cost.

Greg has been married to Luci for 34 years. They have three children. His son Michael is a third generation military aviator in the Raths family. His daughters, Kristen and Kathryn, are both elementary educators. Greg and Luci have three granddaughters.

Election day is June 7th.
