Car Crashes Into Mission Viejo Backyard, Near Miss With Pool

MISSION VIEJO, CA —Homeowners of this Mission Viejo Bouquet Canyon residence were startled to discover a car in their backyard early Wednesday morning, police reported.

Mission Viejo Police Services responded to reports of a car that "rolled from Stoneridge" into the backyard, stopping short of crashing through the sliding glass door.

Though deputies initially believed the owner of the car might have forgotten to set the car into park, upon further investigation, they learned the driver was intoxicated, leading to the incident, Lt. Quyen Vuong of Mission Viejo Police Services said over social media.

MVPD arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI, Vuong reported, adding, "luckily, no one in the home was injured."
