Celebrity Children's Book Author Jason Segel to Visit Mission Viejo Sept. 11

Segel was the voice of Vector in animated "Despicable Me."

Jason Segel, children’s author, actor and comedian best known for his role on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” will delight kids 8 and older when he discusses his new children’s book in Mission Viejo on Friday, Sept. 11.

Segel will appear in the city’s popular Writers Present program at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

The celebrity author will discuss “NIGHTMARES! The Sleepwalker Tonic,” the second book in his popular series for kids with bestselling author Kirsten Miller.

Along with his vast television work, Segel has starred in several films including “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”; “I Love You Man”; “The Muppets”; and he was the voice of Vector in the animated “Despicable Me.”

In addition to a copy of “NIGHTMARES! The Sleepwalker Tonic,” personalized book signing and photo opportunity with Segel, people who buy their tickets before the September 11 event will receive priority seating and signing, which begins at 5:15 p.m.

Tickets, which are limited and based on availability, are available via cash or check at the Mission Viejo Library, 100 Civic Center, or by calling A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe at 949-854-8288.

Kids 12 and under may be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the cost of one $18 ticket.

Onsite ticket sales will begin at 4 p.m. on the day of the event based on availability.
