Delivery Man Run Over and Killed by His Own Truck

A deliveryman was run over by his own truck in Mission Viejo early Thursday morning.

The 68-year-old man died at the scene, and authorities are attempting to notify his family.

The accident happened at the 24000 block of Hayuco just after 1:30 a.m., said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Steve Gil.

At first, investigators believed they were dealing with a hit and run accident, but then they found the delivery truck abandoned about 100 feet down a slight slope.

“The person run over in the street was actually the driver of the car,” said Gil. “It was a horrible accident.”

Deputies believe the man was unloading a delivery from the back of his vehicle when it rolled backwards, knocking him down and running him over.

There were no witnesses to the accident, added Gil.
