Drug Lab Explosion Rocks Mission Viejo Neighborhood

MISSION VIEJO, CA - A garage explosion and a flurry of 911 calls brought first responders to a Mission Viejo apartment complex, Friday afternoon.

Neighbors reported the explosion from a garage in the area of Via Cereza and Via Roble at 4:30 p.m., according to reports.

Deputies and firefighters arrived and treated three residents for non-life threatening injuries and learned the garage was possibly being used as a drug lab.

Mission Viejo Officers evacuated nearby townhomes as a precaution during the investigation and subsequent cleanup.

Orange County Fire Authority's Hazardous Materials Team and the OCSD bomb squad determined the residence may have been used as a drug laboratory.

"There is no longer a threat to our community and the investigation is ongoing," an OCSD spokesperson reported.
