El Toro High School STEM Senior Wins Edison Scholar Scholarship
The Edison Scholars Award went to a lucky El Toro High School student, pursuing studies in STEM

MISSION VIEJO, CA — The Saddleback Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) is pleased to announce that Christine Nguyen, a senior at El Toro High School, has been named a 2017 Edison Scholar and is the recipient of a $40,000 scholarship from Edison International.
Through its $1.2 million Edison Scholars Program, Edison International awards $40,000 scholarships annually to 30 high school seniors planning to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) at an accredited four-year college or university.
“Edison International congratulates this year’s outstanding scholars,” said Pedro Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International. “Through their pursuit of science, technology, engineering and math, we believe these students will make important contributions to our communities and society. We are proud to support them.”

Christine plans on attending the University of California, Berkeley in the fall and will be majoring in applied mathematics. She hopes to use statistics to identify and find solutions to social issues.
