Father’s Day- Good Luck!
Far too many divorces occur in this state. We have a society that makes men disposable. Lost your job? I want a divorce. Having some tough times? I want a divorce. Thick and thin is more likely to be a weight loss product than a promise kept.
Many child custody disagreements involve mothers keeping fathers out of the child’s life in an attempt to alienate the child from the father. This has a devastating impact on the mental health of the child.

Spend a day in family court and watch the parade of women getting divorced who suddenly have a disability and can’t work. Watch the stream of men asking the court to force the mother to allow them visitation.
On one trip to family law court I watched a young man tell the judge he hasn’t seen his daughter in a year. The judge replied, “you have an order” and went on to tell him he needs to do the appropriate paperwork to force enforcement of the court order this very same judge issued. He told him to seek outside legal assistance in learning how to do this. Next case. Keep in mind the order not being followed was issued by this same judge.

If he had come with legal representation it would have ended differently. The case would have dragged on with plenty of billable hours for everyone. Judges don’t want a quick resolution otherwise the attorneys that come before them won’t pick them to sit as mediators. Everyone loses money then. Better to rack of legal bills on parents who want nothing more than to see their children. That is today’s system. It is rotten to its very core.
States like Arizona now start each parent at 50% custody and the parents work from that as a starting point when determining custody. Don’t hold your breath California will see this kind of sanity anytime soon.
