Fathers, we need to teach our sons and daughters about marriage.
...this is the equality which I support. If we hate the sin we see in others, we need to hate the sin in our own lives as well.

This morning, I went to Starbucks with my 10 yr old son Toby. The topic of our discussion was marriage, and how God designed it from the beginning. I brought up this week’s Supreme Court’s ruling, and also shared with him what the Bible has to say on the subject. Although I spoke to him very candidly about the subject, and clearly let him know that I was not in support of the ruling, I also spoke more on the subject of how we need to respond.
I explained to my son that as a Christian man, he needs to follow the Word of God, whether it’s popular or not. It is important for us to follow the teachings in this book, without compromise. We should not deviate from them in any was, shape or form. I also explained that although the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is a sin, (Lev 18:22, Rom 1:26-28) we should not treat this sin in others any differently than the sin that is in our life. (Matt 5:27, Isaiah 64:6)
Sin is sin! If we are to hate sin, we need to hate it equally....this is the equality which I support. If we hate the sin we see in others, we need to hate the sin in our own lives as well. This does not mean that we need to, in any way, accept the sin. Protecting the sanctity of marriage is a must, if we wish to see this nation thrive.
I have many people in my life, whom I have close relationships with, who lead a gay or lesbian lifestyle. I love these individuals and show them kindness. They are amazing individuals, and I’ve taught my kids that they need to equally love everyone. I also teach them about God’s Word, and teach them about what is right, and what is not accepted by God.

Fathers, you need to teach your kids about truth, and teach them about preserving the Biblical view of marriage. Teach them how to stand up for what is right and not be afraid of what people might think of them...and most importantly, teach them how to love. Then your boys will grow up to be men who will lead their families in the fear of The Lord.
