Free Shredding Event Underway In Mission Viejo: What To Know

Do you need to destroy sensitive documents taking up space in your garage or desk? Residents can participate in the free event this October.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Do you have old, sensitive documents taking up space in your desk?

The City of Mission Viejo is hosting a shredding event open to members of the community on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Residents are encouraged to bring sensitive documents such as canceled checks, paycheck stubs, credit card statements, old tax records and other personal papers to be securely destroyed on-site.

Residents or businesses can bring up to five banker-size file boxes worth of paper records for immediate onsite shredding.

Documents may be brought in any kind of container, the city said.

Items not accepted at the event include CDs, credit cards, three-ring binders, wire dividers, newspapers, magazines, spiral notebooks, paper clips, plastic sleeves and metal butterfly clips.

No walk-ups will be permitted at the event.

The free shredding event takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 200 Civic Center.
