From Golden Chords to Wedding Dresses...

John Huntington as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof July 12-28 

About his Golden Chords:

·         John's baritone vocals has made him one of California’s premier musical theatre artists.

·         He won acclaim in roles as widely diverse as Bud Frump in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Cyrano de Bergerac.

·         His singing career began as a highly regarded boy soprano in Gian-Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.

·         He continues to the present as a respected baritone.

 About Teaching at Saddleback:

·         He has been teaching beginning and intermediate voice classes at Saddleback College for three years.

·         His aspirations for his students are for them to be able to sing their grandchildren to sleep and have it be a pleasant experience for the child. To him, this act exemplifies stamina, longevity, expressiveness, communication and power.

 About Playing Tevye:

·         This role for John is a tour de force and one of the great roles in musical theatre.

·         He feels obligated to honor the culture Tevye illustrates as well as to address the universal themes in the musical. Fiddler on the Roof.

·         In his opinion,  Fiddler is an important piece about parenting as well as themes of societal polarization.

 About His Stage Credits:

·         The Dons Giovanni, Pasquale, Magnifico in La Cenerentola;

·         Quixote in Man of La Mancha;

·         Neville Craven in The Secret Garden;

·         Fagin in Oliver;

·         Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream;

·         Mr. Antrobus in The Skin of Our Teeth,

·         The Phantom in Phantom;

·         Starbuck in 110 in the Shade.

·         He played demons in Peer Gynt, gods in the Greek Tragedies and even “God” himself in four productions of Children of Eden.

·         He appeared in the National Company of Phantom of the Opera in San Francisco;

·          He was Hans in the popular children’s video, Rigoletto;

·         Audiences were also fortunate to have seen him in Saddleback College productions of Sweeney Todd in Concert, Seriously Sondheim, Carmina Burana and Requiem.

About Those Wedding Gowns:

·         John is a costumer as well as a singer, and has made wedding gowns for, among others, two of his own daughters .

·         John lives in Mission Viejo with his wife, Tuly, and they have seven grown children and ten grandchildren.
