Gelson's Market Opens its 23rd Store in Ladera Ranch.

At the corner of Antonio and Crown Valley Parkways in Ladera Ranch, Gelson’s Market welcomed the community to its Grand Opening on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 9 am.

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held by the Ladera Ranch Chamber of Commerce as well as presentations by the Orange County, 5th District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett’s Office and State Senator Pat Bates, California’s 36th District Office. Several hundred shoppers waited for the doors to open; the line wrapped around the building.

CEO and President, Rob McDougall greeted the crowd. McDougall said, “We still have some adjustments to make. We opened quickly because we wanted to get former Vons and Haggens employees back to work. We trained them to greet you the “Gelson’s way.”

“We live by the 'Gelson’s rule'-- Take care of the community that takes care of you. We’re grateful for your patronage and your contributions to the community. We try to give back wherever we can.”

The first, 200 people in-line received gift bags, but no one was left out. As shoppers checked–out they were given reusable, Gelson’s bags, gourmet loaves of bread or a bag of gluten free, Milton’s baked chips.

It is common to walk into any store, look around and not be able to find what you want…including someone to help you. That’s not the case at Gelson’s. There’s plenty of staff-friendly, polite and knowledgeable.

Gelson’s is a unique, grocer specializing in hand-selected produce, the freshest cuts of meat, organic, imported, vegetarian and vegan food options. Each Gelson’s has a professional chef that oversees the full-service deli and catering service. Executive Chef, Peter Fior has 18 years of experience in creating gourmet salads, soups, entrees, picnic meals, holiday meals, kosher foods and much more.

Tasting stations were set-up throughout the store for customers to sample merchandise, oysters, produce, soups, sushi, cheeses and baked goods.

To further assist families and guide them with their dietary needs, Gelson’s employs a full-time, Registered Dietician, Jessica Siegel; checkout Jessica’s Healthy Living Guide and Nutrition Notes.

You can expect red-carpet, style-service and attention to detail whether it is in the bakery, carving station, coffee bar, floral department, gourmet cheese section, olive bar, pharmacy, produce or sushi and poke bar. They even have a delivery service.

Freshness is the key to their brand. Produce is tasted in the evening at the growers then shipped on the truck at 5 am the next morning where it is displayed for customers.
