The Orange County Fire Authority, Laguna Beach Fire & OCSD's Duke helicopter aided a downed Mountain Biker in Aliso & Wood Canyons Monday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A downed mountain biker was airlifted from the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park Monday, according to officials. The mountain biker, in his 40s, was riding alone Monday when he crashed on a remote trail, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.
The mountain biker crashed at approximately 11:45 a.m. Monday, and a call to rescuers was made shortly thereafter.
"He ultimately made it to the middle of a trail when a park ranger finally located him," OCFA Steve concialdi said. "Orange County Sheriff's Duke helicopter relayed and directed OCFA to lower in a rescue medic to treat the patient."

By 12:30 p.m. the OCFA helicopter hoisted patient and rescue medic and made the less than 5 minute flight to Mission Hospital where the man was reportedly in moderate condition.
"There are many new trails in the area, and many aren't mapped," Concialdi said. "
According to OCFA, hikers and mountain bikers should always have someone with them, especially when hiking in remote areas.
"You should always ride or hike with someone else, keep a charged phone, bring a battery pack and ample water," Concialdi said.
