Holiday Crash Lands Car in Fire Station Planter

A crash that totaled a Mercedes and sent another car off-road should serve as a reminder to slow down on Antonio Parkway, authorities say.

RANCHO MISSION VIEJO, CA - Two women are recovering today, lucky to be alive after a crash on Antonio Parkway over the holiday weekend.

Two cars crashed directly in front of Orange County Fire Authority Station 56 in Rancho Mission Viejo Sunday, said Capt. Steve Concialdi.

“Fortunately they were both wearing their seatbelts, or it would have been much worse,” he said.

A driver in her 70s was driving a Honda Pilot toward Ortega Highway on Antonio Parkway when she collided with a Mercedes driven by a woman in her 30s, Concialdi said.

The Mercedes was totalled, but both women suffered only minor injuries, he said.

“Drivers need to slow down on Antonio as they’re coming down the hill towards Ortega,” cautioned Concialdi.
