How to Get Into a Great College
Transitioning to college doesn't have to be daunting with the right preparations.

Parents and students gathered Wednesday night at to learn how to get the attention of college admissions boards.
Leading the event was Edvantage College Consulting founder Lisa McLaughlin.

- Colleges all over the nation have received record number of applicants within the last few years, but are only able to take a small percentage of applying students—40 percent or fewer than those that apply.
- Students need to maintain a high GPA and test scores in college-level courses to get into the best schools.
- Consider out of state campuses and the benefits they offer to non-resident applicants.
- Apply early and to multiple colleges.
- Join clubs and sport teams and make sure you highlight any special talents you have.
- Visit the colleges you are interested in attending.
- Your college admission letter should highlight your personality, values and goals.
