Irvine Counseling Center is One of Few in the Community Offering Wide Variety of Therapeutic and Assessment Services

Center offers affordable child and family therapy, individual therapy, couples counseling, career and psychological assessments and more.

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, one of the leading nonprofit universities devoted exclusively to psychology and behavioral health sciences, operates two counseling centers in Southern California. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Counseling Centers, located in Irvine and West Los Angeles, provide high-quality and affordable mental healthcare to residents of Orange County and the greater Los Angeles communities, while also utilizing state-of-the-art training methods and supervision to prepare mental health clinicians-in-training to be skilled, highly ethical, culturally competent, and effective leaders.

The Counseling Centers are unique from other mental health service centers in that they are two of the few in the community that offer a wide variety of services, including individual therapy, couples counseling, child and family therapy, and group therapy. Career and psychological assessment services are offered as well, to evaluate for such things as learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum disorders, to name a few. All of the outstanding services are offered on a sliding scale and sessions are unlimited.

The Irvine Center, located at 4199 Campus Drive, University Tower, 4th Floor; phone number 949.769.7747, is under the direction of clinical psychologist Julie Wilnier, Ph.D., who has been with the center for four years. In her role as director, Dr. Wilnier (pictured above) is responsible for advancing the strategic direction of the center while managing the daily functioning, and prioritizing a high standard of care for the clients the center supports.

“Our staff is comprised of clinical psychologists supervising masters and doctoral-level trainees from The Chicago School, which has campuses in Southern California, Chicago and Washington, D.C.,” explained Dr. Wilnier. “We also employ interns from other universities who are excited to refine their competent therapeutic skills in The Chicago School Counseling Center’s excellent training environment.”

In addition to English, the center offers services in Spanish, Farsi, and Korean. Counting both therapeutic and assessment services, the Counseling Center at Irvine provided more than 5,000 hours of support to the community last year. Dr. Wilnier has also implemented the California Victim Compensation Program within the clinics, allowing interns to provide services to victims and their families at no cost to them.

"I am so proud of what we offer to the community, and our trainees as well!" said Dr. Wilnier.
