J.D. is a phenomenal pup

Friendly, loving and cute as a button, J.D. deserves a happy home.

J.D. is an outgoing and affectionate 1-year-old black Labrador mix. He is very athletic and would make an excellent hiking or running partner. He loves everyone he meets and knows no stranger. J.D. is a happy, fun-loving pup who would adapt well in almost any home.

However, black dogs like J.D. are often passed over for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals. Most people are not familiar with this issue dubbed “Black Dog Syndrome,” but studies have shown it does actually exist and applies to cats, too. The reasons are unclear, but it may be because factors such as unclear facial features, the “genericness” of black pets and negative portrayals of black pets in books, movies and other popular media.
This is unfortunate for phenomenal pups like J.D. Sporting a beautiful slick black coat, this sweet dog deserves a loving home.

Drop by the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center at 28095 Hillcrest to meet J. D. today. For more information, call 949-470-3045 or visit http://www.cmvas.org.
