Ladera Ranch Tree Lighting Moves Location Due to Santa Ana Winds
High winds force Ladera Christmas Tree Lighting event to move locations.

LADERA RANCH, CA — The city of Ladera Ranch released a schedule change for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa Claus arrival on Dec. 2 due to the wind advisory. The new Covenant Hills location will offer a scaled down event, minus the tents, canopies and vendors that would have been threatened by the Santa Ana wind storm.
Wind gusts of between 40 and 60 miles per hour have been estimated Friday evening by the National Weather Service.
Additional parking will be at Oso Grande and the Terramor Aquatic Park (Water Park) parking lots.

In a letter to residents, city officials laid out the change of plans for Santa's arrival:
"Due to unforeseen weather conditions that include high-winds, tonight’s Tree Lighting and Santa’s Arrival event has been moved to the Covenant Hills Clubhouse. Additionally, the festivities have been scaled down due to holding the event at a smaller location.
Our message is currently be posted on the website, will be sent out through an e-blast, and we will work through the various Facebook posts.
Ultimately, we were told by the vendors that they would not be able to setup the stage, canopies, tables, etc. due to the high-winds. Based on this we felt the event would suffer.
By moving the event to Covenant Hills we can still have some of the performances, activities, etc. We understand, that this is not ideal, but we certainly hope to make the best of the event based on the circumstances.
We hope to see you at Covenant Hills this evening."
