Ladera Ranch Mom Dies Trying To Save Teen At Three Sisters Falls

The 48-year-old woman fell to her death while attempting to save a teenage girl on their trek to the Julian-area waterfalls.

LADERA RANCH, CA — A 48-year-old Ladera Ranch woman was identified as the victim of a fatal fall in the Julian area over the weekend, according to Lt. Jeff Ford of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Sarah Louise Crocker, identified Monday, was leading a group of teenagers on a hike around the Three Sisters Falls in Descanso when she fell to her death, according to Ford.

It was just after 10 a.m. when both the victim and a teenager flipped from the trail into the cavern below.

"The woman supervising the teenagers attempted to keep the girl from going over the ledge," Ford said. "Unfortunately, both the woman and the girl fell and suffered severe injuries.

Crocker died at the scene. Medics airlifted the teenage girl to a hospital where she was last known to be in stable condition.

The girl was expected to survive her injuries and her identity was not released.
