Little Patrick and Scully Ready for 'Furever' Families

Each week, two pets are featured by The Pet Rescue Center in this blog post.  We recently had a dog adopted by a Patch reader! Check out Patrick and Scully, an adorable and adoptable dog and cat presented this week.

Patrick's Story...
Hi! My name is Patrick! I’m a one-year-old Terrier mix, and I am a super special little boy! I was saved last month from euthanasia on my last day at the OC Animal Shelter. There are lots of small breed mixes out there, but one look at me will tell you why I was saved! I am full of personality and joy. I’m a happy, happy boy. I love to run, I love to play, and I love people and toys!

I have been going on a lot of outings the past few weeks, like the Mission Viejo DAWG Walk and Fountain Valley Summerfest Dog Day Afternoon, and I just participated in Lake Forest’s 4th of July Parade.  I’m really friendly and would enjoy snuggling on your lap. And, I’m always in a good mood. I have been neutered and micro-chipped and am ready for my forever home!

Patrick is already housetrained, up-to-date with shots, good with kids, good with other dogs, and good with cats.

Scully's Story...
Hello! My name is Scully. I am a 2-3 year-old, female, medium hair, Tortie mix. I am a dainty little girl with a big heart. I was rescued with 2 of my newborn kittens on April 9th from the county animal shelter in Orange. I was in a dark room, with many other animals, waiting for euthanasia. My babies only had about 24 hours and I had maybe 3-5 days. My family and I have embraced every moment of our new home with The Pet Rescue Center. I love all the staff here, and I feel healthy and beautiful again. I am such a good mom, but my kittens, Fox and Dana, are growing fast and are ready to be adopted. That means I am ready too! I have been spayed, micro-chipped and have a clean bill of health. All I need is a lap and some love, and I will be a happy cat!

The Pet Rescue Center, located inside Alicia Pet Care Center in Mission Viejo, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes pets saved from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and other at-risk situations. These pets are provided with a veterinarian-supervised, temporary sanctuary, while they work to find an adopting family for them. They have successfully saved and adopted out more than 600 dogs and cats in the past five years. To view their adoptable cats and dogs, to volunteer, or to make a donation, please visit them online at www.thepetrescuecenter.org or call 877.277.7938. You can also "like" and follow them on Facebook.

All interested parties must fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed to find the best possible match for the pet and for the interested family. Pets are visited by appointment only, but times are flexible. Please email Casey Oliver, Director of Operations, at The Pet Rescue Center, at adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org to arrange a meeting time. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs and $150 for cats, and includes spay/neuter, microchip, flea treatment, deworming, regular veterinary check-ups, and current vaccinations. This fee helps to defray the costs of medical care, supplies, and boarding while the animals are in their care.
