Man Arrested After Barricading Himself In Aliso Viejo Apartment

Orange County sheriff deputies responded to a man with a gun threatening to harm himself in an apartment building in Aliso Viejo Thursday.

ALISO VIEJO, CA — One man was arrested in Aliso Viejo early Thursday morning after reportedly barricading himself in an apartment and threatening to harm himself with a gun, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning at an apartment in the 7000 block of City Lights Drive, authorities said. No one was injured, and at 6:45 a.m. the unidentified man was taken into custody and is currently being evaluated. It is not known if he will face charges.

A number of people living in and around the apartment were safely evacuated as the Orange County Sheriff's Crisis Negotiations Team made attempts to talk to the man throughout the night.

At one point, a sheriff's department spokesperson said, the man stepped out of the apartment holding a gun before going back inside.
