MISSION VIEJO, CA —A Mission Viejo resident was reported missing on Monday, according to police services.

Orange County Sheriff Department's DUKE helicopter assisted in the search for "Vernon," a 55-year-old, Hispanic man who left his home in the middle of the night for unknown reasons. As of 9 a.m., he remained missing.

The OCSD helicopter circled near Mission Viejo High School Monday morning, while police sought the man who went missing from his home in the area of Alicia Parkway and Muirlands, a spokesperson for the department reported.

He was last known to be home shortly before 3 a.m., according to reports, and was wearing a white T-shirt and grey sweatpants.

He is approximately 6-feet tall and 180 pounds, they said
