Mission Hospital Student Auxiliary Celebrates a Tradition of Philanthropy with Two $25,000 Gifts

The Student Auxiliary will be recognized on the hospital donor wall as a Guardian, one of Mission Hospital's prestigious donor groups.

In April 2013, the Student Auxiliary of Mission Hospital made a bold commitment to donate $25,000 to support the hospital’s new Neuroscience & Spine Institute. This month, the Student Auxiliary contributed the final payment to reach their impressive goal.

“I am in awe of this exceptional group of student leaders and philanthropists,” shared Cathleen A. Collins, chief development officer for Mission Hospital Foundation. “Their generous gift speaks to their passion and commitment to Mission Hospital and the health and wellness of our community. This gift contributed immensely to our ability to open our remarkable new Neuroscience & Spine Institute, which is playing a leading role in neuroscience and spine care and research, significantly improving the lives of our patients and families.”

Shortly after reaching their goal to support the Neuroscience & Spine Institute, the Student Auxiliary announced a new target – to raise $25,000 to benefit Mission Hospital Laguna Beach’s Behavioral Health Program.

“The Student Auxiliary has been an active and engaged donor group since 2001,” says Collins. “This new pledge is reflective of their incredible history of giving – time and resources.”

More than 100 student volunteers serve in various capacities throughout the hospital in a comprehensive year-round program. Students welcome visitors at our information desks, assist in delivering meals to patients and support patient registration and discharge.
