Mission Viejo Animal Services Finds Missing Dog With Help Of Trap

After a resident in need lost her dog in Mission Viejo, she reached out to the city's Animal Services Center for help.

A Mission Viejo resident in need received a helping hand from the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center after her dog slipped out of his harness and ran away last week thanks to the aid of a handy sergeant.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A Mission Viejo resident in need received a helping hand from the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center after her dog slipped out of his harness and ran away last week thanks to the aid of a handy sergeant.

With the help of Sergeant Stewart of the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, a humane dog trap with wet food and the dog's bed was set up near the owner's house.

Stewart also set up the trap with cellular motion cameras that would alert officers when an animal was near the trap.

After a few days passed, Stewart was notified by the cameras that the lost dog found the trap and was waiting inside.

The pup was soon returned back to his owner — but not before a selfie with his rescuer.
