Construction continues on Newhart Middle School’s new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) building.

When completed next summer, the building will house 10 classrooms, four standard classrooms and six science/art labs.
The general contractor recently finished welding activities and erecting steel for the structure and is pouring grade beams and footings this week – around 400 cubic yards or 44 cement trucks. Prepping the pad for the building slab follows.

According to the Capistrano Unified School District, the project was only slightly impacted by COVID-19 and the rain at the beginning of the year and is still on track to be completed by June 2021.
