Mission Viejo Fatal Collision Closes Alicia Parkway for Hours

A Wednesday collision on Alicia Parkway left one woman dead, according to OCSD.

MISSION VIEJO, CA —Alicia Parkway was shut down for over five hours after a fatal Wednesday collision.

Authorities Thursday identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash that injured two others in Mission Viejo.

The collision was reported about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on Alicia Parkway and Lanzarote, according to Lt. Nathan Wilson of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

One of the drivers, 23-year-old Shireen Tabatabai of Mission Viejo, was pronounced dead at the hospital, Wilson said.

The other motorist, a 20-year-old man whose name was not released, was also taken to Mission Hospital as a trauma patient, but the extent of his injuries were not immediately available, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.

Alicia Parkway remained closed in both directions five hours after the crash, Wilson said.

No one was arrested and the cause of the crash remained under investigation, Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Mark Stichter said.
