Mission Viejo To Host Food Scrap Recycling Zoom Meeting

Residents with pressing questions about the state-mandated Food Scrap Recycling Program that went into effect Jan. 1 should save this date.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Do you have pressing questions about the green compost bin hanging out on your curb? Starting Jan. 1, all California residents are required to begin placing food scraps like fruit and vegetable trimmings, eggshells, pasta, grains and other items into the green-lidded container provided by Waste Management of Orange County.

On Jan. 13, Mission Viejo's Chamber of Commerce's Community & Legislative Affairs Department will host a Zoom meeting from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. to discuss the new program, the city announced Thursday.

The meeting will feature Waste Management's Recycling Education and Outreach Manager Victoria Nguyen. Nguyen will discuss Senate Bill 1383 and Mission Viejo's food, waste and recycling programs, the city said.
