Mission Viejo Hosts Drive By Shredding Event Saturday, Oct. 1

Got sensitive documents that would take an age to shred yourself? Mission Viejo gets it, with this document destruction event on Saturday.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Clear your cluttered documents and empty those file boxes. Mission Viejo residents and businesses can destroy their sensitive documents during the free drive-through Document Shredding event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Mission Viejo City Hall parking lot at 200 Civic Center.

The shredding event is in partnership with Waste Management and the City's Public Works Department, according to a city spokesperson.

The event will run until 11 a.m. or until truck capacity is reached, they said.

Residents and businesses can bring up to five banker-size file boxes worth of paper records for immediate shredding.

The event is limited to Mission Viejo residents, and proof of residency is required.

All documents and boxes should be free of binders, paper clips, plastic sleeves and metal butterfly clips, they advised.

Items not accepted include:

  • CDs.
  • credit cards.
  • three-ring binders.
  • wire dividers.
  • newspapers.
  • magazines.
  • spiral notebooks.

For safety reasons, all patrons must remain in their vehicles until serviced. No walk-ups will be permitted.
