LAKE FOREST, CA — What's the most fun about living in Orange County? In Mission Viejo, it's having a city that continues to improve their parks on the one hand, and that invites all out to learn how to play Pickle Ball on the other. So, what's fun out here?
Everything, when WalletHub.com released their latest announcement. With a ranking of the top 20 best California cities in which to raise a family, several Orange County cities made the grade. Categories that included the cities were:
- Family Life and Fun
- Education
- Health
- Safety
- Affordability
- Socioeconomic Environment
While Mission Viejo ranked 35th out of the 240 cities polled, here's how the rest of OC fared in the results.

Aliso Viejo ranked 6th over all, and Rancho Santa Margarita came in lucky 13.
WalletHub described Aliso Viejo as ranking sixth for affordability and 19th for the socioeconomic environment as well as the categories of Education, Health and safety.

Rancho Santa Margarita came in 16th for the Education, Health and Safety category while it placed 12th in the area of Socioeconomic environment.
Other Orange County cities that placed included Irvine at 33rd place and Newport Beach just behind in 34th place.
What accounts for Family Life and Fun, according to WalletHub.com? The number of playgrounds in a certain city area. More space to play out of doors, as well as the sunny Southern California lifestyle with more days to play outside than other parts of the state.
For Education, Health and Safety WalletHub.com's panel of experts reviewed school quality, graduation from high school rates, air quality and crime.
Affordability relates directly to median income as compared to housing prices and the cost-of-living.
Socioeconomic factors include divorce rate statistics, percentage of families living below the poverty line and the unemployment rate, according to WalletHub.
