MISSION VIEJO, CA — The City of Mission Viejo is making progress in an ongoing project designed to conserve water, benefit the environment and beautify Mission Viejo. The next phase of the arterial landscape slope rehabilitation project along a stretch of Jeronimo road is on the horizon, the city wrote in a news release.

The work takes place on both sides of Jeronimo from Alicia to Montilla Lane, and entails removing and replacing old, declining vegetation with drought-tolerant trees, shrubs and ground cover, the city wrote on its website.

The project also includes evaluating trees for selective trimming or removal, renovating old irrigation systems, installing "Smart" irrigation controllers and erosion-control measures.
