Mission Viejo Man, 20, Killed in Crash with Big Rig

A 20-year-old Mission Viejo man was killed today when the car he was driving rear-ended a big rig parked on the right shoulder of the truck lanes of the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar.

The crash occurred about 8:35 a.m. north of Balboa Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim, identified by the coroner’s office as Andro Barsoum, died at the scene.

The 2013 Honda Civic he was driving ended up underneath the tractor trailer combination, according to reports from the scene.

The northbound freeway truck lanes were closed until about 1:05 p.m., the CHP reported.
