Woman Found Killed In Mission Viejo Home, Son Arrested In Relation To Her Death

A woman was found dead inside her home on Cipres in Mission Viejo overnight. Her son is behind bars, suspected of the brutal crime.

MISSION VIEJO, CA —A woman was found dead inside her Mission Viejo home and her son has been arrested on suspicion in her death.

Orange County Sheriffs Investigators located and arrested Charles Mosby (36) in the death of his mother Marie Mosby (69).

No additional suspects or vehicles are being sought at this time, officials say.

The cause and manner of Marie Mosby’s death are pending further investigation.

On Tuesday night, Orange County Sheriff's Department deputies received a call reporting Mosby missing, OCSD Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Anderson told Patch.

Officers discovered Marie Mosby’s body at 11:30 p.m., though the Orange County Coroner and OC Crime Lab did not arrive at the scene until early Wednesday morning, Anderson said.

The incident is believed to be isolated.

“We appreciate the public’s patience during our extensive investigation,” Anderson said. “Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the victim’s friends and family.“
